Sweet Parata - Boli



Boli with Moong dhal and jaggery is tasty and good for health.

Ingredients

Moong Dhal (Greem Gram whole -Pachaparuppu) - 2 Cups
Jaggery (Vellam) - 1 Cup
Maida - 1 1/2 Cups
Grated Cocunut - 1/2 Cup
Turmeric powder ( A pinch for color)
Salt (Little to be added in dough for taste)
Oil for frying

Preparation Method

1. Dough


  • Add the maida flour, a pinch of turmeric powder, water and mix it well. Once the flour absorbs water add (5 tsp) oil and knead the dough well to make it very soft. Make the dough soaked in (5tsp) oil for 2 hours minimum.

2. Gram Mixture

  • Soak the moong dhal with enough water overnight.
  • Boil the gram with enough water. Allow it cook well (Allow 5-6 whistle in pressure cooker).
  • Once cooked strain the water completely and allow it cool completely.
  • Add Jaggery to the cooked gram dhal and mix it well.
  • Add grated coconut to the mixture and mix it.


3. Boli

  • Make equal number of small size ball of the dough and the gram mixture.
  • Roll out the dough and place the gram ball inside and cover it well.

  • Roll out it as thin as possible.
  • Place it in the hot pan and apply oil on sides.
  • Cook it well as we do for chappatti’s.
